My Background
Personal Profile
When I left school 5 years ago I didn't have any idea what I wanted to do next. After about a year of searching for something that looked appealing, it dawned on me. Why not become a PT. If you're visiting the website because you've seen one of my social media accounts or one of my flyers then what I'm about to say will come as no surprise to you, however if you have just come across me for the 1st time let me let you into a little secret. I have ADHD. Much like most people with ADHD I often start things and fail to finish them. However, my journey to becoming a PT has followed a somewhat different path. I started the journey back in March of 2022 and 3 years later, I continue to defy on a daily basis the rule which had defined my life up until I made the decision to become a Personal Trainer.
I have often been frustrated by the lack of awareness given to how much health and fitness can help ADHD. Exercise is by far the most accessible (running for example is free) of the treatment methods (medication, therapy and exercise), but I'd argue it's the most underutilised. I know what it's like to find the idea of going to the gym intimidating or to have no idea where to start your fitness journey. My aim is to help people with ADHD through their fitness journey's as I have done with my own journey, by designing programs (exercise and nutrition) that work with they way they work.

Experience and Qualifications
Qualifications
In 2023 at the age of 19 I completed a Level 3 Diploma in Gym Instructing and Personal Training (Practitioner) with YMCAfit. Components of the course included everything from applied anatomy and physiology, and nutrition to support physical activity, to bespoke exercise program design, and much more. In addition to this I have also completed an ADHD Awareness Diploma to further my knowledge of a condition which I both have and am extremely passionate about, as you will see below.
Early Experience
From a relatively young age I was comfortable within a gym environment, mostly due to my Grandad being a Personal Trainer.
I often watched him train clients when I wasn't at school. He has over the years introduced me to several interesting people within the fitness industry which has helped me improve my health and fitness based knowledge as well as further inspire me to go down the route of becoming a Personal Trainer.
ADHD
When I was 18, I was diagnosed with ADHD. I went through the entirety of my schooling wondering why I couldn't focus properly or why I found so many things so difficult.
After I got the diagnosis my life has changed so much, and almost entirely for the better. I now have a better understanding of myself and how I work. I have a better idea of what my strengths and weaknesses are, and I know how much exercise helps through the good and the bad of ADHD. It's widely known that ADHD can be managed through medications such as Ritalin, and through therapies such as ADHD coaching, but what isn't always focused on is how much exercise can help.
When I was diagnosed I was given the option of medication or ADHD coaching. Exercise was just a footnote. I want to change that. Given my background I know that I can help people with ADHD form healthier habits through exercise.
